At the height of our severe California drought we decided to remove the grass lawns from the front and back of our home. We wanted to replace the lawns with drought tolerant plantings and build a bocce court and deck in the back yard. After reviewing plans from a number of contractors we decided to engage Neal Thayer. Our project was underway from early spring through the early fall of 2015. At each major step, and there were many, Neal conferred with us as to our goals and offered his timely, important suggestions. He insured the project was completed to our total satisfaction. Indeed, a number of Neal’s invaluable suggestions gave us a better outcome than we had originally envisioned. For example Neal was able to picture how the addition of a mini orchard would greatly enhance the front of our home. We agreed and followed his advice and today we have a variety of nine productive fruit trees gracing the area where there was once lawn.
The wide variety of plants that we selected with Neal's guidance add beauty and color to our outdoor areas. He also designed and constructed a unique deck that surrounds a very large willow tree in a corner of our back yard. Especially on summer evenings, this area is a tranquil and beautiful oasis. The bocce court in proximity to the deck has a professional look and feel and has been the center of joyful afternoons with family and friends. Neal's exemplary construction skills were invaluable as the court took shape and was completed.
